Stud Rams

"Roustabout" Land Run 351 RRNN

Picture
Picture
We are excited to add this proven stud for the 2017 breeding season.  His pedigree is rich in Land Run and Wheaton genetics, and we hope that he will add some top shape and thickness to our lambs.  Half of our ewes will be exposed to Roustabout for 2018 lambs.

Sire: Caskey 0668

DOB: 1/20/2014

The Caskey buck sired the Supreme Champion Ewe at the 2013 National Cornbelt Sale.  This lamb was our pick of Heishman's 2014 rams- He's got plenty of size and loads of wool without sacrificing correctness.  We think he is a great fit with our ewes.  He sired most of our 2015 and 2016 lambs, and half of our 2017 lambs.

What do you get when you combine the thickness of the Hope ram with the style and extension of a Cartoon daughter?  The most massive topped, heaviest boned Hampshire we've ever raised.  He was used on a limited basis in 2016 and sired half of our Hamps in 2017.

This "Kentucky Proof" grandson has the combination of frame and muscle that we look for.  He sired all of our 2013 and 2014 Hamps and has worked really well with our ewes.  He will be used on a limited basis for 2015 lambs.

We purchased this ram as a yearling from Dan Shell at the 2008 Great Lakes Sale and he sired half of our '09, '10, and '11 lambs.  We appreciate the muscle and growthiness he passes to his lambs from the Cabaniss blood on both sides of his pedigree.  Half of our ewes are exposed to him for January and February 2012 lambs.

This ram was also purchased in 2008 and sired half of our '09, '10, and '11 Hamp lambs.  Our "Cartoon" daughters are stylish ewes with extra length and extension.  He has given us more twins than any other ram we have ever used.  His 2012 lambs will arrive in January and February.

Ewes

Our Hamp ewes are a mixed group of frame and wether type ewes with influence from Hope, Hidden Meadows, and Shell's.  They are complete, structually sound sheep that allow us to produce lambs for a variety of purposes.

We purchased this ewe at the 2009 Stars of Louisville Hamp Sale, and what a looker she is!  Everyone who comes to the farm comments about how much they love her tall, straight-lined frame.  We showed her slick shorn at the 2011 Shenandoah Co. Fair, where she was 1st place Aged Ewe.

This ewe was Grand Champion Hampshire Ewe at the 2010 Great Lakes Sale.  Like our Shell ram she has the width and power that many frame-type Hamps lack today- a stud ewe that you can build a flock around!

This "Cartoon" January '10 ewe lamb, right, is an example of the kind of ewes in our keeper pen.
Below is the same ewe as a yearling.  We showed her slick shorn at the 2011 Shenandoah Co. Fair.
